SAMA 2011 Best Kwaito Album nominees

This year Kwaito Music did not have a large pool of great albums to choose from. Below is a list of the deserving albums that have been selected as this year’s nominees. Spare a thought for Emza. He has a great album too; however there can only be five nominees. He is a young man and if he keeps working like he has been; he will be up there with the best of them soon enough.

• The rumor mill is rife with an impending that will involve King Barella, Cruz and Gearboxx and possibly more artists. If it does take place, it will be good thing Kwaito music all round. We will keep our eye on this story.

• A little birdie tells me that Spikiri is working on a double album. This album will apparently feature all the major heavy hitters that are still in the game and some new talent. I am yet confirm this with Spikiri. If Spikiri is behind an album, you know it is bound to be a scorcher.

Dakota Drops first album

Dakota has finally dropped his first album. The album has 16 tracks on in and features the hit, ‘Ungamane Uyeke’. This track went on to top YFM’s Kwaito Hott 99 chart show and it got a lot of love from the YFM Play-list and other radio stations. It is essentially a dance album. It will keep you on the dance floor with fast past beats and catchy lyrics. Dakota next single, ‘Kwathi Angibenge’ will debut on YFM’s Kwaito hot 99 today. The show airs at 9am with a repeat at 9pm.


Dakota’s album will be available from next week all at leading record stores. It is called Destiny.

Senzakuphela by Cruz

Cruz has a new single out titled Senzakuphela. It debuted today on the Kwaito Hott 99 on YFM 99.2 at number nine. You can be one of the first people to have this single by downloading it to your MTN handset. Simply log on to MTNPlay on your mobile phone. It is R5 for a caller tune and R10 for a full track.
